Abstract

The purpose of this thesis is to create cylindrical structures from different types of polydimethylsiloxane and subsequently measure their optical parameters. The theoretical part of this thesis is dedicated to optical fibers, their variants ant optical parameters. The next chapter describes polymer optical fibers and their difference from conventional optical fibers, followed by chapter on polydimethylsiloxane. The practical part is starting with describing preparation of the mixture and the subsequent production of optical waveguides, on which measurement of attenuation and refractive index at different wavelengths were made. At the end, the measured values of each type were processed and compared between each other.
