Abstract
The subject of this thesis is the Presidency of the Council of the European Union. The first chapter presents EU strategies because the member countries base priorities for their presidencies upon them. The second chapter describes the history of the studied institute, explains the principles, functions, impact or influence. The third section sets out objectives of post-Lisbon presidencies. The last part portrays their achievements.
