Abstract

This dissertation deals with one of the possibilities of using pyrolysis oil, which was prepared and applied as follows. First the samples of brown coal were taken from the Most and Sokolov region, which were subsequently adjusted to the desired grain size. These samples were then subjected to pyrolysis processes in a closed tubular reactor at 900 °C and the liquid product was accumulated afterwards. Because the composition of these pyrolysis oils is similar (the content of aliphatic and aromatic hydrocarbons, alcohol functional groups) as a classical composition of flotation reagents (Montanol 800), they were applied in the flotation of coal sludges from Karvina region (mines Darkov and Lazy). Pyrolysis oils were applied in mixtures with Montanol 800, always at a dose of 500 g/t and at ratios 1:4 to 5:0 (pyrolysis oil:Montanol 800), and the results (yield of concentrate, ash content) were compared with reference values obtained by application of pure Montanol 800. The target value determined for the ash content was less than 10 %. Because each coal contains sulfur compounds that also pass into the liquid products during pyrolysis, some brown coal samples were subjected to bacterial coal desulfurization using bacterial culture of Acidithiobacillus ferrooxidans, to determine whether the sulfur affects the flotation results.
