RNDr. František Kresta, Ph.D. The subject of the diploma thesis is the processing and description of volume changes of fine-grained soils and the factors that influence them. In the theoretical part, I will summarize knowledge about the classification and properties of fine-grained soils and clays. The practical part is devoted to the determination of all monitored parameters related to soil volume changes on three specific samples from locations in Slovakia. The results of laboratory tests and measurements shows that the studied fine-grained soils should not negatively affect the selected construction objects in terms of structural failure due to volume changes (swelling).
