VELČOVSKÝ, Karel. The possibilities of detection of improvised explosive devices. Bachelor thesis: VŠB-TU Ostrava, Faculty of safety engineering, Department of security services, 51 pages, 2017. Supervisor of bachelor thesis: doc. RNDr. Karla Barčová, Ph.D.
This bachelor thesis deals with possibilities of detection of improvised explosive devices focusing on application of spectroscopic methods. The aim is description of selected methods and proposal of their use. In first part there is a definition of improvised explosive device and description of its parts. In second part there are explained basic principles of spectroscopy in general and further principles of each selected method, concretely infrared, Raman, THz, mass spectrometry, ion mobility spectrometry and active neutron interrogation. In following parts there are examples of instruments using these methods. Also there is a brief comparison of these methods in several categories and there are described suggestions of use of selected methods.
