Abstract
This diploma thesis focuses on the evaluation of the influence of boundary conditions on the results of fire behaviour measurements performed using a cone calorimeter. The theoretical part summarizes the principle of the cone calorimeter, the physical processes occurring during heat-ing and combustion of materials, and describes the key output parameters, particularly the heat release rate, total heat release and time to ignition. Attention is paid to factors affecting the ther-mal balance of the specimen, such as the type of backing material, the use of a retaining grid and other boundary conditions of the test setup. The experimental part investigates measurements of PMMA samples under different specimen arrangements and evaluates the impact of these con-ditions on the measured parameters.
