Abstract

This document focuses on the design and production of a set of jewellery inspired by Nordic culture and mythology. The aim of this bachelor thesis is to create original jewellery that combines the modern with the Viking Age. The theoretical part includes a closer look at the history of Scandinavia, as well as the Vikings and their reflection in various art and metalwork. The work includes a breakdown of Viking art styles, metalworking techniques and a description of bronze casting during this time. It also discusses the mythology that was crucial to their society. The practical part deals with transferring the design to a wax model, making a plaster mould, and then casting and final execution.
