Abstract
This thesis aims to verify the technology of liquid metal infiltration into the mould cavity using filling material for moulded casts, in other words it focuses on the production of cast metal foams using common foundry procedures. The theoretical part of the thesis deals with the basic characteristics of metal foams and the description of various foundry methods of their production, ways of their application and current use. The subject of the practical part of the thesis is the verification of the possibility of using the liquid metal infiltration technology into the mould cavity using filling material for moulded casts, alternatively for the casts with a solid surface layer. It verifies mainly the possibility of using a filling material for the casts with a complicated mould joint. The results of the practical part of the thesis are represented by the metal foam casts with both regular and irregular arrangement of their inner cavities.
