    A Guide to Research and Development (Not Only) for Doctoral Students

    The media, the professional public, and also the general public often deal with issues of the information society and the need to build a knowledge-based economy. However, this change cannot happen without increasing research capacities and without a shift in the quality of the conducted research as such. Early-career researchers, in particular, often encounter a problem when trying to work in an environment with complex rules of operation. They subconsciously feel they should comply with them, but, at the same time, do not know how. They obtain a lot of information from their friends, colleagues, or supervisors, but the information is often incomplete and obtaining it is time-consuming. This book is intended just for such people as a certain introduction to the complex science and research environment, allowing them to adapt much faster and more efficiently to the settings. For this purpose, some passages of the book are highlighted with the following meaning: A text marked like this contains a link to other study materials the authors of this book recommend studying for better understanding of the discussed issue A note contains an additional explanation that can be considered interesting, allowing readers see the discussed issue in a broader context. A notice highlights a particularly important message that definitely should not be skipped.

    Průvodce vědou a výzkumem (nejen) pro studenty doktorského studia

    Média, odborná veřejnost, ale také veřejnost běžná se často zabývají otázkami informační společnosti a nutnosti budování znalostní ekonomiky. Tento posun se však neobejde bez navyšování výzkumných kapacit a také posunu v kvalitě prováděného výzkumu jako takového. Zejména mladí začínající vědci při své práci často naráží na problém, kdy se snaží pracovat v prostředí, které má očividně složitá pravidla fungování a oni podvědomě cítí, že by jim měli vyhovět, ale zároveň neví jak. Řadu informací proto získávají od svých přátel, kolegů či školitelů, avšak tyto informace jsou často nekompletní a jejich získání je časově náročné. Proto je tato kniha určena právě takovýmto lidem jako určitý úvod do složitého prostředí vědy a výzkumu, který jim umožňuje mnohem rychlejší a efektivnější adaptaci v tomto prostředí.
