Item type: Item , An analysis of students' decision-making process in case of exchange programmes(Vysoká škola báňská - Technická univerzita Ostrava, 2011) Sobková, LucieLearning mobility is a key priority because of its impacts analysed by a number of studies. International education is becoming increasingly competitive with a growing importance of branding within educational institutions. Member states of the EU have been invited to increase the attractiveness of their higher education institutions, and several research studies have concluded that mobility should be better promoted. The aim of this paper is thus to analyse a student’s decision-making process on exchange programmes in order to help improve the marketing communications of a university. Eight individual surveys were carried out in order to understand how students decide on where to study abroad. The results of this study illustrate how to effectively use information sources within a university communications strategy and how to design a creative strategy.Item type: Item , Employee turnover and maintaining knowledge continuity in large and small organisations(Vysoká škola báňská - Technická univerzita Ostrava, 2011) Linhartová, Lucie; Urbancová, HanaDetermining the causes and consequences of employee turnover is necessary in order to maintain competitive advantage in today’s knowledge economy. For an organisation, an employee’s departure can mean the outflow of the knowledge that he or she possesses, and it is thus necessary to ensure its transfer in order to maintain knowledge continuity. The objective of the present article is to present the results of surveys on the causes of employee turnover and its perception by employers as possible knowledge loss. The impact of employee turnover on knowledge continuity was examined by combining quantitative and qualitative surveys. The differences be-tween provable factors leading to an employee’s departure from small and large organisations provided a base for a follow-up survey focusing on the preservation of key knowledge in organisations dealing with turnover problems. One of the conclusions is that the threat arising from a departing employee with critical knowledge about the organisation is dependent on their ownership interest in the organisation, on the size of the organisation and on the sector of the economy. Today‘s knowledge-based organisations must be aware of the main causes and consequences of employee fluctuation in order to maintain competitiveness at this time of economic crisis.Item type: Item , The impact of association measures within the portfolio dimensionality reduction problem(Vysoká škola báňská - Technická univerzita Ostrava, 2011) Ortobelli, Sergio; Tichý, TomášThe dependency structure of random sources plays a crucial role in portfolio theory and in several pricing and risk management problems. In this paper, we discuss the possible usage of alternative association measures in portfolio problems. Among association measures, we highlight those that are consistent with the choices of risk-averse investors and we characterise semidefinite positive association measures. Additionally, we propose new portfolio selection problems that optimise the association between the portfolio and market benchmarks and follow a dimensionality reduction problem. Finally, by carrying out an empirical analysis, we show the impact of selected association measures within the portfolio problem. This analysis proves that the proper usage of both a risk measure and an association measure can increase the portfolio performance substantially.Item type: Item , Multi-horizon portfolio insurance model(Vysoká škola báňská - Technická univerzita Ostrava, 2011) Štulajter, FrantišekThis paper presents and analyses the structure of a new mutual fund management model that allocates a fund’s resources with respect to the different time preferences of investors. The proposed model enables the explicit definition of investment horizons in a regular open-ended fund framework that uses the popular portfolio insur-ance strategy based on value at risk. Investors are assumed to be homogeneous in terms of their risk/reward preferences but heterogeneous in terms of their investment horizons. Time moments when investment decisions are made by individual investors are spread out over time randomly because of the different life cycles of investors. We assume that all investors in the fund can be separated into manageable numbers of groups regarding their remaining investment horizons. The fundamental concept of the proposed multi-horizon portfolio insurance model is optimising the composition of the fund according to the most conservative allocation among the optimal portfo-lios of all considered groups of investors. A historical simulation based on US financial data is also used to compare the proposed model with the regular single horizon strategy and to stress test proposed model with its various parameterisations.Item type: Item , Vývoj strukturálního salda státního rozpočtu v České republice po vstupu do EU(Vysoká škola báňská - Technická univerzita Ostrava, 2011) Machová, ZuzanaItem type: Item , Účetní a ekonomické pojetí zisku(Vysoká škola báňská - Technická univerzita Ostrava, 2011) Procházka, DavidItem type: Item , Testování vybraných modelů odhadu hodnoty VaR(Vysoká škola báňská - Technická univerzita Ostrava, 2011) Kresta, AlešItem type: Item , Hodnocení konkurenceschopnosti regionů České republiky v kontextu Lisabonské strategie(Vysoká škola báňská - Technická univerzita Ostrava, 2011) Melecký, Lukáš; Staníčková, MichaelaItem type: Item , Nákladová efektívnosť vybraných dopravných podnikov Českej republiky - aplikácia obalovej analýzy dát(Vysoká škola báňská - Technická univerzita Ostrava, 2011) Roháčová, VieraItem type: Item , Inovatívne nástroje riadenia v praxi slovenských samospráv : programové rozpočtovanie a benchmarking(Vysoká škola báňská - Technická univerzita Ostrava, 2011) Mindová, LenkaItem type: Item , Ekonomický růst, konkurenceschopnost a kvalita života(Vysoká škola báňská - Technická univerzita Ostrava, 2011) Verner, TomášItem type: Item , Řízená práce s digitálními dokumenty a jejich archivace(Vysoká škola báňská - Technická univerzita Ostrava, 2011) Tvrdíková, MilenaItem type: Item , O meraní efektívnosti definovaných objektov (zložiek) firmy(Vysoká škola báňská - Technická univerzita Ostrava, 2011) Kubiš, JurajItem type: Item , Politika zaměstnanosti USA v kontextu rozvoje sociálního státu v době New Frontier a Great Society(Vysoká škola báňská - Technická univerzita Ostrava, 2011) Johnson, ZdenkaItem type: Item , Index OCA - aplikace na země EU10(Vysoká škola báňská - Technická univerzita Ostrava, 2011) Hedija, VeronikaItem type: Item , Formování úvěrových trhů vybraných zemí Evropské unie : analýza užitím panelové regrese(Vysoká škola báňská - Technická univerzita Ostrava, 2011) Heryán, TomášItem type: Item , Opatření zahraničně obchodní politiky a otevřenost ekonomiky v zemích Visegrádské skupiny(Vysoká škola báňská - Technická univerzita Ostrava, 2011) Fojtíková, LenkaItem type: Item , The analysis of the influence of selected factors on website traffic(Vysoká škola báňská - Technická univerzita Ostrava, 2011) Hoďáková, Martina; Némethová, ZuzanaWeb traffic analysis and a correct interpretation of the results are essential to optimize the site and effective online communication, which is today for some organizations even more important than offline communication. The analysis is concentrated on identification of general development trend in the period 1994–2008. The main idea is to analyse those factors which have influenced the basic charac-teristics of foreign trade value development. The linear regression is applied to analyse the sensitivity of individu-al countries’ export on selected macroeconomic indicators changes. The following findings result from the analy-sis. The value of foreign trade of the V4 countries has been growing steadily. The value of trade has been increas-ing in all analysed segments – i.e. the agrarian products, fuels and raw materials and the manufacturing products. The analysis of the effects of selected variables on the value of exports of V4 countries is confirmed by the high interdependence between the export and GDP value. The impact of inflation, exchange rate and unemployment in the final value of export is minor.Item type: Item , Future skills needs in EU and skills transferability in 2020 : sector meta-analysis(Vysoká škola báňská - Technická univerzita Ostrava, 2011) Balcar, JiříEmployment and its changes caused by restructuring are topics, which European Union pays attention to in long-run horizon, and the experience of current economic crisis confirms the rectitude of this approach. Structural changes always generate a need of the re-emplacement of laid off workers. Possibilities of their emplacement is strongly influenced by knowledge and skills offered by workers and demanded by employers. Acquaintance with future demand on knowledge and skills applicable across whole economy or applicable in different segments of labour market, i.e. in concrete occupations and sectors, enables effective targeting of educational activities at both individual and social levels, which will lead to higher flexibility of labour market mirrored mainly by high occupational mobility and low structural unemployment. The aim of this paper is to analyse future knowledge and skills needs recognized in 18 future-oriented sector analyses, published by European Commission in 2009, and identify knowledge and skills applicable in individual sectors, occupations and on the whole labour market, i.e. identify transferable knowledge and skills.
