Operation of the Suction System during the Production of a Mixture of Polypropylene and Polyethene Granulate from the Point of View of the Risk of Possible Fire and Explosion of Combustible Dust
(Vysoká škola báňská - Technická univerzita Ostrava, 2022) Vidlička, Martin; Balog, Karol; Filipi, Bohdan
This article deals with the operation of the suction system with the risk of fire and subsequent explosion of combustible dust during the operation of screw extruders and their equipment. Machines process a mixture of polyethylene and polypropylene to a granular form. It describes the suction device from the suction attachments to the separator at the selected workplace and points out specific technological problems of the device, together with measures for its solution.

Determination of Ozone Concentration and Its Effect on Degradation of Materials
(Vysoká škola báňská - Technická univerzita Ostrava, 2022) Friedrichová, Romana; Karl, Jan; Růžička, Milan; Vyskočilová, Anna; Martinec, Marek; Veselý, Martin; Škubník, Jan; Svobodová Pavlíčková, Vladimíra; Rimpelová, Silvie; Kuchař, Martin
The ongoing Covid-19 pandemics showed the need for the effective decontamination of environment and surfaces. One of the options could be the use of gas ozone. Ozone has been well known for its disinfection properties, which were in the past used to decontaminate water. In this article, we present a development of an easy-made and ready-to-use portable detector of ozone, which could be used to easily detect ozone in the environment. In addition, we studied degradation impact of ozone on different materials, which normally occur in households or at working places. Ozone is well detectable and does not cause any damage to materials at concentrations needed for decontamination of the environment.

Evaluation of Records from Driving Dynamics Testing on Training Polygons
(Vysoká škola báňská - Technická univerzita Ostrava, 2022) Jánošík, Ladislav; Poledňák, Pavel; Šudrychová, Izabela; Vlček, Petr; Jánošíková, Ivana; Jonová, Karolína; Nováček, Vítězslav
The paper briefly informs about the content, procedures and objectives of the student grant competition project (ID No. SP2021/58) entitled “Verification of driving characteristics of water tender type firefighting vehicles” (Šudrychová et al., 2022). It summarizes the results of one of the two main project objectives, namely the evaluation of records from driving dynamics testing on training polygons under emergency braking when driving in a straight line and in a circle at a speed approaching the vehicle rollover safe limit. These two tasks are essential driving skills and must be reliably mastered by firefighting vehicle drivers in critical situations on the road.

Systemic Failures and Underlying Causes-An Analysis of the Heavy Vehicle Socio-Technical System
(Vysoká škola báňská - Technická univerzita Ostrava, 2022) Cikara, Ivan; Dell, Geoff; Raineri, Aldo; Skřížovská, Michaela
The heavy vehicle transport industry has been described as one of the most dangerous occupations with a high death rate. It is part of a complex socio-technical system with many interacting parts which can adversely influence a drivers decision leading up to a crash. Drivers continued to be blamed for crashes without the underlying causes being identified as investigation methods do not take these causes into consideration. This paper explains the complexity of the socio-technical system and suggests it is necessary to look beyond a driver’s behavior and focus on the actions and inactions of other actors that have influenced the driver’s behavior to understand what has caused a crash.

Process Management of a Model Company Crisis Caused by a Pandemic
(Vysoká škola báňská - Technická univerzita Ostrava, 2022) Dostálová, Petra
This article focuses on the crisis management of a selected company in a pandemic. The first part focuses on the specification of the threat of a pandemic in the conditions of the company, and the definition of possible types of crises that a pandemic can cause. What effects can a pandemic cause a company and model crisis management to manage a crisis in a company caused by a pandemic. The article focuses on a specific company. The measures put in place by the company to avoid forced closures. At the end of the work, I suggest appropriate steps for more effective preventive measures in the company.

LoRa and LoRaWAN Tests in the Aspect of Critical Infrastructures
(Vysoká škola báňská - Technická univerzita Ostrava, 2022) Borsos, Döníz; Kohanecz, Ádám; Kozma, Dávid
IoT technologies are also increasingly used in critical infrastructures. One of the most used Internet of Things (IoT) communication technologies is LoRaWAN. This communication protocol provides an opportunity to design large-scale, low-power systems. Due to the robustness of the communication, it is especially suitable for ensuring stable data connections in extreme terrain and environmental parameters. Our research aims to determine the data transmission distance under different, extreme environments, as well as the radio parameters that characterize data transmission. Based on the measurement results, it is possible to indicate in which cases and in what way the LoRaWAN can be applied in the aspect of critical infrastructures.
