Abstract

Stareczek, D. Topological Optimization of Transtibial Orthosis: Master Thesis. Ostrava: VŠB – Technical University of Ostrava, Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, Department of Applied Mechanics, 2020, 54 pages. Head of Thesis Ing.Pavel Maršálek Ph.D. This thesis deals with topological optimization of the stump bed of a transtibial orthosis created by using the 3D printing method. The aim of this work is to study the weight reduction of prosthesis with respect to its load capacity and stiffness. The first part deals with the analysis of walking biomechanics, the study of topological optimization itself and various approaches to the design of stump beds. In the next part, topological optimization is tested in the Ansys Workbench software environment through test examples, which are used to debug the computer model for use in applying topological optimization to structural tasks. The work analyses the design of a stump bed containing an inner filling in the form of a honeycomb field. Subsequently, the field is replaced by solid material and then the method of topological optimization is applied to the stump bed modified in this way. At the end of the work, a universal lightweight model of the stump bed is designed, which serves to reduce the cost of prosthesis production and thus increase the availability of the product for all patients. The work is assigned on the basis of needs from industrial experience and its results will be used by Invent Medical Group s.r.o.
