Abstract
The bachelor thesis deals with the transition from bands brake to disc brake. Using calculation compare the braking torque of bands brake with disc brake. Then I describe the most frequent failures of the overhead cranes and their causes. In the thesis it is going to be mentioned the possibility of improving the most faulty parts, modernization of some machine nodes, thus increasing the life and reliability of cranes.
