Abstract

Jiří Kratochvíl, Ph.D. This bachelor thesis focuses on the experimental comparison of tool life between direct-pressed and ground indexable inserts for high-feed cutting (HFC). The theoretical part defines the principles of the HFC method, the specifics of machining austenitic stainless steels, and the wear mechanisms of cutting tools. The practical part is dedicated to long-term tool life tests of inserts from manufacturers Dormer Pramet s.r.o and Dijet Industrial Co., Ltd. during the milling of material 1.4404. The development of flank wear (〖VB〗_b) is monitored as a function of cutting time under dry machining conditions and with the application of process emulsion. The result of the work is a comparison of the technological and economic benefits of ground tool variants versus direct-pressed variants
