Abstract

The bachelor thesis is focused on increasing the durability of the tool when turning hard-to-cut material. In this case, increasing tool life will take the form of testing multiple types of carbide turning inserts. The content of the experimental part will be the evaluation of selected exchangeable turning inserts on which the cutting edge wear rate and their durability will be investigated, at what time in the cut the cutting edge will be substandard and the surface roughness will be compared after the insert changes. Furthermore, the technical and economic benefits for the workshop will be evaluated, in which the price of the exchangeable turning insert will be evaluated taking into account their durability. The aim of the bachelor thesis will therefore be, besides economic aspects, to determine the safe durability of the exchangeable turning inserts tested and the interval after which the insert will have to be replaced. In the theoretical part, this thesis deals with the analysis of turning of difficult-to-cut materials, eg machinability, splinter formation, division of tool materials or also wear of tool blades and their types.
