Abstract
The thesis deals with the evaluation of how changes to the length of the straight pipe section affect the working process of the Venturi tube through numerical CFD simulations. In the introductory part, the history of fluid flow and flow measurement is described. Subsequently, the theoretical part presents the classification of flow meters and a more detailed description of the different types of flow meters. In the next chapter, basic information regarding numerical CFD simulations is given and the procedure for their creation is explained. Finally, in the theoretical section, the current scientific knowledge regarding the use of numerical CFD simulations of the Venturi tube is presented. In the practical part, the analysis of the specified Venturi tube DN100 PN6 is described. Additionally, the procedure for the development of numerical simulations of the Venturi tube problem with direct inlet pipe lengths of 14.6D, 6D and 2D, where the most accurate computational turbulence model for the simulations of the specified problems is evaluated based on numerical and graphical results, is presented. This work then concludes with an evaluation of the results of the simulations with the most accurate computational model to express the effect of changing the length of the direct pipe section on the working process of the Venturi tube.
