Zajištění dodávky tepla pomocí SMR v lokalitě Dětmarovice

Abstract

This thesis examines the possibility of supplying heat to the cities of Bohumín and Orlová via a small modular reactor (SMR) located in Dětmarovice. The thesis is based on available technical documentation regarding the secondary circuit of the Rolls-Royce SMR power plant and focuses on the use of extraction steam for district heating purposes within a district heating system. The introductory section provides a review of district heating operations, primary transfer stations, types of heat exchangers, and the basic principles of heat sharing. Subsequently, the Rankine-Clausius cycle of the SMR’s secondary circuit is analyzed, with a focus on the possibilities of extracting steam from the low-pressure section of the turbine. Based on this analysis, a concept for a heat exchanger station is proposed, including a superheat condenser, a condensing heat exchanger, and a condensate cooler. The main part of the thesis is devoted to the design of a condensing shell-and-tube heat exchanger, which ensures the dominant transfer of heat output to the hot water system. The calculation includes the determination of heat fluxes, heat transfer coefficients, geometric parameters, and the required heat exchange area of the equipment. The result of the work is a technical design of a system enabling the efficient utilization of thermal energy from a small modular reactor for the needs of centralized heat supply in the Moravian-Silesian Region.
