Abstract
PILCH, David BSc. The Design of the Device in the Vacuum Pump Assembly Operation. Ostrava, 2024. Diploma thesis. VŠB - Technical University of Ostrava, Faculty of Mechanical Engineering.
The diploma thesis deals with the development and design of a device for refining the assembly of nXDS pumps on the line of the final assembly. The device will be used to measure the parameters of a key component of the pump mechanism. The requirements were determined by Edwards process engineers. In the theoretical section I introduce the function of the pump and discuss the overall mechanism. In the practical part I discuss the choice of sensors and the design of the device. After selecting the type of sensor, other design options with a rotary mechanism are discussed in the paper. The selected final design is further discussed and analyzed in detail. For each component of the assembly, a detailed analysis of the functional map, geometric tolerances, assemblability calculation, overall dimensional chain calculation and ISO GPS drawings have been created in the respective appendices. I tested prototype devices and developed a final design to be incorporated into the assembly line to increase the likelihood of achieving optimum engineering parameters and reduce the likelihood of non-conforming assemblies. All specified requirements have been met and the function of the measuring device exceeds the initial requirement.
