Ostrava: VSB – Technical University of Ostrava, Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, Department of Machining, Assembly and Engineering Metrology, 30 pages, Supervisor: Ing. Antonín Trefil, Ph.D. This bachelor’s thesis deals with the rationalization of the machining technology of connecting rods for diesel engines. The introduction briefly presents the company and describes the selected component and its material. Subsequently, the current manufacturing process is described in detail, including the machines, fixtures, and individual machining operations. The next part proposes a new fixture together with a change of machine. In the final chapter, a comparison between the current and the proposed manufacturing process is carried out, followed by an evaluation of their economic efficiency.
