Abstract

The master thesis deals with the issue of steam flow modeling inside the bypass channel of an experimental steam turbine 10 MW. The first part of the thesis presents the general steam turbines theory (history, types, regulation methods, blading) and the CFD theory basics. Within the practical part of this thesis, an inverse model of the bypass channel section was created and pressure losses were investigated. The pressure losses obtained from the CFD were compared with the values calculated empirically. The goal of this work was to find out whether it is possible to use empirical relationships to determine the pressure loss with sufficient accuracy in comparison with numerical calculation which is much more laborious and time consuming.
