Abstract
This bachelor's thesis deals with the sustainable aspects of Laser Powder Bed Fusion additive technology in the context of modern industrial production. The aim of the thesis is to quantify the energy demands of the entire process chain. The first part defines the concepts of energy and environmental sustainability and compares them with conventional machining methods. It also covers the energy requirements of material preparation and the significance of topology optimization for material reduction. The subsequent section involves data analysis from a reference job, which revealed the dominant impact of the machine's base power consumption and auxiliary units over the actual melting process. The measurement results quantify the proportion of individual production phases, including the demanding post-processing. Based on the acquired data, the thesis proposes optimization strategies.
