Abstract
This bachelor’s thesis deals with the design of a spiral heat exchanger for a modular nuclear power unit with a KLT-40C reactor. The theoretical part describes the basic principles of heat transfer, the classification of heat exchangers, and the design solutions of spiral heat exchangers with a focus on their application in industry and nuclear power engineering. Furthermore, the small modular pressurized water reactor KLT-40C is characterized, and its active and passive safety systems are described.
The practical part of the thesis focuses on the design of a spiral steam generator and the execution of a simplified thermal calculation for the specified parameters based on the concept of the KLT-40C unit. The calculation includes the determination of heat transfer and overall heat transfer coefficients, the analysis of heat exchange processes, and the evaluation of the resulting parameters of the equipment.
The outcome of the thesis is a design of a spiral steam generator meeting the requirements for efficient heat transfer between the primary and secondary circuits of a modular nuclear power unit.
