Abstract

The subject of the thesis is the optimization of tilting platforms used in bus rollover crash tests. The optimization is based on a supplementary module: a platform bridge. This supplementary module enables testing vehicles with more than two axles, with a special focus on tank trucks. The introductory theoretical section of the thesis describes different types of rollover tests to ensure vehicle stability, and their legislative framework. The research section explores the functional principles in operating tilting platforms, and also presents the design of the supplementary module, including the strength analysis. The final part of the thesis deals with technical and economic assessment of optimizing tilting platforms with supplementary modules. The thesis supplement includes the technical documentation of the platform bridge and the way the bridge is mounted on the tilting platforms.
