Abstract
Bachelor thesis is dealing with printing parameters for down-skin surface in material In718 printed with SLM technology. Surface quality on printed parts is heavily influenced by printing parameters. The research identified printing defects and parameters closely related to these defects. Parameters related to laser power, scan speed, and layer height affect the amount of volumetric energy transferred to the material. Inadequate amount of transferred energy can lead to defects, such as balling and spatter. These defects can result in worse surface quality. In practical part of this thesis a design of experiment was created. Three printing parameters were tested: laser power, scanning speed, and number of exposures. These parameters were organized using Taguchi's orthogonal array method and printed on samples. Furthermore, these samples were evaluated visually, by measured thickness, and finally by measured surface roughness. The measured data were processed using regression analysis, from which parameters significantly influencing surface quality were identified. Finally, samples with the most suitable surface roughness characteristics were selected.
