Abstract

Master’s thesis is focused on the stress and strain analysis of the backup roll chamfer of the 4-high rolling mill by finite element analysis. The theme was created on the basis of requirements VÍTKOVICE STEEL, a.s. At the beginning of the thesis are summarized the basic characteristics of the rolling process, the material characteristics of the cylinders and the ways of loading the rolling mill. There are also discussed ways of solving contact problems and solving 2D problems (Hertz theory, FEM). For structural and structural-thermal analysis was used computational modelling of the spatial system and lastly, optimization is used for increase the life of the cylinders.
