Abstract

This thesis focuses on the issue of welding and heat treatment of clad steel sheets composed of carbon steel 13CrMo4-5 and corrosion-resistant steel X6CrNiNb18-10. The aim is to determine whether and how the stainless steel layer is affected or damaged during annealing at approximately 700 °C–a process required for the carbon steel but uncommon for stainless steels. Two samples were prepared, one of which was annealed and the other left untreated. Using macroscopic and microscopic metallography, structural changes and potential problematic areas were analyzed to assess the suitability of the process for industrial applications.
