Abstract

This master’s thesis focuses on the design and realisation of a system for calibrating small-displacement sensors. The solution includes the development and implementation of an application layer with a graphical user interface that enables straightforward operation of the calibration device. The application is used for setting and controlling the calibration process, data acquisition, and evaluation of output signals from small-displacement sensors with impulse or voltage outputs. The thesis presents an analysis of small-displacement sensors, including their measuring and signal-conditioning circuits, as well as an analysis of technical means suitable for generating small displacements and for automating the calibration process. Based on this analysis, a calibration system is designed and realised. The functionality of the proposed system is verified through experimental measurements performed on purpose-designed small-displacement sensors based on capacitive and optical sensing principles.
