Abstract

Aim of this thesis is to find the stress tensor components in the case of point contact using two approaches - finite element method and semi-analytical model. The subject of the thesis is also comparison between the results of two mentioned approaches, which have been obtained by solving a specific example. Point contact is simulatedby loading the infinite half-space in case of semi-analytical approach and block with finite dimensions in case of FEM approach with elliptical contact area with Hertz pressure distribution over this area.Within the framework of effective obtaining the results with FEM approach, there was created a macro that allows us to get a complete stress tensor on selected nodes, situated in particular depth below the contact surface.
