Abstract
This bachelor’s thesis focuses on the design and implementation of a sensor module intended to support link-length calibration of a Bennett closed-kinematic mechanism. Based
on a requirements analysis, suitable principles for force and displacement measurement are
selected and specific, readily available components are chosen. The thesis includes the mechanical design of the module, which enables continuous length adjustment within a limited
range while simultaneously measuring the longitudinal force in the link using a strain-gauge
load cell. The displacement readout is provided by a micrometer head. The work also covers
the design of the electronics for signal acquisition, value display, and data transfer to a PC,
including firmware with taring, synchronization, and CSV data logging functions. The result is a
functional prototype manufactured by FDM and verified by basic tests, ready for subsequent
experimental measurements and evaluation directly on the mechanism.
