Abstract
The aim of the thesis is to design a five-jaw grab which is used for manipulation with scrap metal. The introduction describes similar products that can be found on the current market. The requirements regarding engineering design are then specified and the most suitable variant of engineering solution is chosen. Specific nodes of the product are picked
and the strength analysis together with the design and check calculations essential
for the design process are presented. In order to check the specific node a software analyses based on the finite element method were utilized. The thesis also proposes additional designs of some of the parts and includes the product’s technical documentation.
