Abstract

The main purpose of this thesis is to explain and evaluate the Cost Index strategy as an effective tool used by airline operators to minimise fuel consumption and have an effective Time Management. The first few chapters explain the basic calculations of Cost Index and its influence on airline operators, while the remaining chapters focus on the importance of the optimal value of the Cost Index, considering this is a key area to be discussed. The conclusion of this thesis compares maximum and minimum values of the Cost Index, its practical use and operational recommendations.
