Biomechanics of Selected Skull Fractures

Abstract

Supervisor:Prof.Ing.Karel Frydrysek,Ph.D This diploma thesis deals with some selected fractures of cranium (Latin form of skull) and its anatomy. So far, many articles have been published on the anatomy of the skull. Also it is explained in this thesis to better understand the contents. First, the anatomy of the skull and its components are discussed.Then fracture of skull, causes and its symptoms is explained and also is mentioned how it could be diagnosed and treated. The main focus of this Diploma thesis is on two experiments done on skull. The former is about experimental modal analysis of the skull and procedure description. And the latter is about resistance of zygomatic bone (which connects brain case above to the upper and lower jaws with their teeth below) under the quasi-static force.
