This diploma thesis deals with the design proposal of a mulcher intended to be mounted behind a small tractor with a three-point hitch of category I according to ČSN ISO 730-1. The mulcher is designed for processing unused land, orchards, meadows, green manure, and crop stubble. The introductory part of the thesis explains what mulching is. In the following section, different types of mulchers are described – for instance those with vertical and horizontal axes, as well as other variations. Subsequently, I selected the most suitable mulcher for the intended application. The design section focuses on the construction of individual components of the mulching machine. The calculation part includes a design calculation of the belt drive, angular gearbox, and a verification of rotor shaft welds. The thesis also contains a strength analysis of the three-point hitch with the frame. The final chapter presents a conclusion summarizing the key outcomes of the diploma thesis.
