Abstract

This bachelor thesis deals with the reduction of emissions in air transport using the concept of Free-Route. Part of this work is an analysis of the current and predicted share of aviation in the production of unwanted emissions into the air, together with an explanation of the concept of direct routes within the European airspace. It also discusses developments in the field of aircraft jet engines in terms of emissions production. An important part is the flight plan between the defined airports at least 2000 km away with and without the use of direct routes and the calculation of expected emissions. An integral part is also the final comparison of calculations and a general description of the benefits of the FRA concept in European airspace.
