Abstract

This bachelor thesis solves the design of a computer desk for IT classrooms of the Department of Production Machines and design. The main task of the design is to increase the capacity of the classrooms as well as student’s comfort in compliance with the modern teaching methods. In the recherche, current status of the classrooms of VŠB – Technical University of Ostrava including the one in the thesis. The examination of the state of the classrooms before the reconstruction shows the problems caused by an inappropriate choice and the placement of the equipment. During the process, an original two-student workspace concept has been designed with a third monitor placed on the stand together with all the electronics. Thanks to which, the workspace offers a wider working area of the desk even though the desk used is narrower compared to the original design. Ergonomic studies made it possible to adjust the workspace in a way for it to be arranged better. The contact between the student and the professor benefit from this fact as well as the view at the contents on the board. The classroom is therefore still suitable for the common use without the monitors. The stand is made of high pressure laminate which offers a great selection of colours and patterns. The stand is not a part of the desk. Its size is designed to be easily combined with a variety of desks, computers and its peripheries, too. This way it is combinable with any of the classrooms’ interiors. There are visualisations of the individual parts of the desk contained as well as the final design of the classroom. At the end of the thesis, there are required strength calculations realised to ensure the stand stability. The final design solves all the abstracted goals of the thesis and adds up the possibility to be used in any IT classrooms of Technical University of Ostrava and other scholar facilities, too.
