Abstract
This diploma thesis focuses on the issue of in-plant transportation from the perspective of occupational health and safety (OHS), with particular emphasis on the operation of forklift trucks. The aim of the thesis is to propose three variants of measures designed to improve OHS, taking into account the technical, organizational, and financial conditions of the enterprise.
The first part of the thesis is devoted to the description of the machinery used in the company. Subsequently, selected legal and other OHS-related regulations are presented, along with the obligations arising from them for both the operator and the operators of material handling equipment, as well as for other persons present at the workplace. Furthermore, principles of good practice as defined by professional organizations are introduced. Technical requirements for machinery are also briefly outlined.
The second part focuses on the analysis of the current state of in-plant transportation, describing existing measures and identifying risk areas that require improvement. This section includes a comparison of the current situation with the requirements set by legal regulations, principles of good practice, and corporate standards.
The final part presents specific proposals for measures aimed at improving in-plant transportation in relation to OHS. These proposals respect the hierarchy of control measures and are designed with regard to the real implementation possibilities of the enterprise, both in terms of technical feasibility and financial demands. The outcome of the thesis is an evaluation of the expected benefits and an estimation of the implementation costs.
