Abstract
This master thesis focuses both on exploring the topic of artificial intelligence in industrial automation and functional safety, as well as on the development and deployment of a custom Copilot or an AI assistant. The introduction of the thesis provides an overview of the area of functional safety in automation, key concepts related to artificial intelligence and includes a description of the Microsoft Azure OpenAI Studio development environment. It discusses the principles and concepts of this platform, which was chosen based on the needs of the cooperating company. Subsequently, a development plan for the Copilot within this platform is defined, followed by a description of its actual development. After the development phase, a testing procedure is designed and implemented to evaluate the system’s performance and to identify any deficiencies that need to be addressed. Once the system has been thoroughly tested and refined, the final part of the thesis describes the process of deploying the Copilot into production, thus enabling its real-world operation.
