This Master’s thesis focuses on the comparison of water flow through a ball valve equipped with a retractable seat mechanism versus a conventional design. The theoretical part of the thesis discusses the principles of shut-off valves, fundamental physical laws, cavitation, and numerical modeling methods. The practical part is dedicated to geometry creation, the setup and generation of the computational mesh, and the subsequent flow simulation within the ball valve using Ansys Fluent software.
