Abstract
This bachelor thesis deals with the design and technological solution for the production of a terminal box casting for an electric motor. The main aim of the thesis was to analyze the original design of the component, identify its main shortcomings, and propose modifications leading to improved manufacturability, assembly properties, and casting quality. The theoretical part summarizes the basic principles of aluminium die-casting technology, characteristics of used alloy, the most common casting defects, and methods of quality control. The design section focuses on the analysis of the original terminal box design and proposes construction modifications with respect to maintaining the existing tooling and minimizing production costs. The practical part describes individual stages of the manufacturing process, from alloy melting to finishing operations and quality inspection of the casting. The thesis also includes an evaluation of the achieved results and an assessment of the benefits of the proposed modifications in terms of production and assembly. The result of the thesis is a design and technological solution enabling stable and repeatable production of the required component.
