Abstract
This diploma thesis deals with the topic of passive cooling of nuclear power plants and the design of emergency heat exchanger Westinghouse AP1000 . The first is focused on the description of basic segmentation of a nuclear power plant, the primary and second circuit. Consequently Westinghouse AP1000 project and its safety systems is introduced. Then the concept and functionality of passive emergency systems of AP1000 are described.
The second part consists of theoretical analysis and basic strength, thermal and hydraulic calculations of proposed emergency heat exchanger, based on given input parameters.
