Abstract

The thesis deals with the design of a segmental stair climbing wheel. As a part of this work a reduced trial prototype of an undercarriage was constructed, the project of which was lent support in the Student Grant Competition 2013. The introductory part of the thesis offers a summary of the standards of staircase construction and of mobile systems for overcoming similar obstacles. Next, a force analysis of the wheel mechanism is provided and desiderative forces and moments are pinpointed. Several solutions of two constructive nodes are proposed and developed in the form of a 3D model in the environment of the Creo software. The drawing documentation is a part of the thesis attachments. The enclosed CD carries 3D models of proposed solutions together with the overall concept of the undercarriage.
