Abstract
As a result of an ongoing integration of the domestic Czech market into the European and global structures, the thesis aims to take a closer look at the powers of Office for the Protection of Competition with a special emphasis put on its supervision of public procurement.
The primary objective of the thesis is to describe the structure and the competences of the Office. Besides description and analysis, the work also aims to offer a view of international economic entities conducting business activities on the Czech market. The thesis is divided into three main sections: the Office for the Protection of Competition, Public Procurement and Inspection of Adherence to the Act on Public Procurement. Within the first block the thesis deals with the organizational structure, mission, international cooperation and powers of the Office with a special emphasis laid on the protection of economic competition, namely cartel agreements, abuse of the dominant position, etc. The block of Public Procurement offers an overview of the main terminology and its definitions focusing on periods, course of proceedings, asssessment criteria, etc. The final block too contains the elementary terminology and classification of the issue in question. It is, however, enriched by a point of view of international entities active on the Czech market of the quality of the domestic competition framework.
