Abstract
This master thesis deal with issues of increasing effectivity and thermal output of cross-flow heat exchangers containing an internal fin element. First section of the thesis is focused on description of the heat exchangers and their usage in the industry, mainly in Heat, Ventilation, Air Conditioning (HVAC) applications. This is followed by theoretical analysis of heat transfer in heat exchangers and description of characteristics defining the process. Second section of the thesis is practical and focused on experimental measurement and comparison of measured data of seven samples of exchangers with different fin geometry. The first part describes the measurement objectives, the test samples and the experimental equipment itself, including the design of experiments. Followed by presentation of the results of the measurements and their discussion, especially in terms of the influence of the used fin types and fin geometries on the fluid outlet temperatures, pressure losses and overall efficiency of the heat exchanger. The conclusion of this thesis contains a summary of the most important findings and description of possible follow-up research.
