Abstract
The bachelor thesis deals with heat treatment procedures, which lead to a change of microstructure and modify the properties of steel. The theoretical part describes the phase transformations that occur during cooling of steel, and various heat treatment procedures – annealing, quenching, tempering and carburizing. The practical part presents the effect of heat treatment - carburizing, quenching and tempering – on the microstructure and hardness of components for trucks manufactured from steel 16MnCrS5. The depth of the hardened layer was determined by metallography and by measuring the hardness HV1 at certain distances from the surface in cross section.
