Abstract

This thesis deals with the testing of ceramic cutting tools in intermittent cutting conditions. In the first part it describes the development, distribution and manufacture of cutting tools made of ceramics. The following chapter is devoted to its own experimental measurements. Two types of ceramic cutting inserts made by Greenleaf were tested on which it was detected at two cutting speeds (vc1=408 m.min-1 a vc2=580 m.min-1) in the range of feed f = (0.15 - 0, 30) mm, resistance to shock. Plate, which withstood the shocks critical value of R = 6000 was considered satisfactory. Monitoring of impacts was carried out on material 16MoCrV6. The final part consists of measured values with graphical processing, supplemented by microscopic images showing the wear.
