Abstract

The thesis is focused on the employee appraisal process in a selected organization of public administration. Employee evaluation is considered as one of the tools for performance management of human resources. The thesis analyzes the current evaluation system and its goal is to recommend measures for its improvement. The first part deals with theoretical approaches to the evaluation process, methods, fields and criteria for employee evaluation. In the practical part the appraisal system of the municipality is analyzed and the results of a questionnaire survey are examined. Information gained from studying internal rules and empirical questionnaire survey outcomes is compared with the theoretical information. Final part contains the proposed measures that can make the employee appraisal system more efficient.
