Abstract
The bachelor thesis deals with the design of the rear underrun barrier according to the
valid legislation of the Economic Commission for Europe of the United Nations - Regulation
No. 58 and its subsequent strength calculation. In the opening part, its function is described
and a research of existing types and designs of rear underrun barriers is discussed. In the
following second part, three concepts of the barrier are presented and their individual
design solutions are described in agreement with UN/ECE Regulation No. 58. In the next
section, all three designs are submitted to preliminary check numerical calculations using
the finite element method. Finally, their comparison is made together with a mass reduction
of the most suitable rear underrun barrier evaluated.
