Abstract

The master thesis deals with the testing of cutting inserts during turning of titan (Ti6Al4V) and nickel (Inconel 718) alloy. This method was developed experimentally in the company Pramet Tools, s.r.o. which focuses on the manufacturing of cutting inserts. The requirement of the company was to design geometry of cutting inserts with regard to the durability and cutting powers for turning of materials from the ISO S-group. The basis of the testing was the production of cutting inserts for materials which are difficult to turn. The theoretical part of the thesis focuses on the description of the cutting tools, superalloys and the turning thereof. The experimental part of the thesis deals with the design of a cutting geometry for turning of materials from the ISO S-group. In the conclusion cutting geometry for individual cutting inserts is designed and a graphical evaluation of the executed testing is presented.
