Abstract
In this diploma thesis are discussed uncoated cemented carbides based on WC-Co in terms of their mechanical properties and thermal stress. It describes the basics of production cemented carbides, cemented carbides characteristics, measurement of bending strength and thermal shock application. Mainly, this work is focused on thermal stress of specific types of cemented carbides with different contents of the binder phase and the influence of this stress on the flexural strength. Also is described the influence of the structure on the residual flexural strength and resistance against the formation and propagation of cracks due to thermal stress. From obtained values can be specified application properties of the test samples and them further development or use it to specific operations.
