Abstract

Ježek, M. Effect of force position on loadbearing capacity of beams with thin wall opened cross sections: Bachelor Thesis. Ostrava: VŠB – Technical University of Ostrava, Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, Department of Applied Mechanics, 2020, s. Thesis head: doc. Ing. Polzer, S., Ph.D. In the first part, my work deals with the principle of thin-walled beams, their production and use. Here I explain the individual types of beams and the theories used to calculate their load capacity. In the second part, I investigated the load capacity at the centre of gravity, the centre of shear and the flange. Then I looked for the best location for maximum load capacity, if it is out of shear centre. I performed these calculations by using Ansys Workbench 2019 R1 software. At last, I calculated the location of the shear centre analytically and the maximum shear stresses for individual open cross-sections, here I used the knowledge of elasticity and strength.
